Choosing Cosmetic Procedures That Make Me Look Amazing

I have always been someone who loves looking young, which is probably one of the reasons that old age was so hard on me. I realized that I was having all kinds of problems with other people's perception of my age, and it was difficult. In order to turn the tables in my favor, I decided to visit a cosmetic surgeon for a consultation. It was incredible to talk with the surgeon and see what he said, and he had all kinds of great ideas for improving my appearance. This blog is all about choosing cosmetic procedures that will make you look incredible.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Pre-Wedding Laser Hair Treatments

Are laser hair treatments the answer to your wedding day woes? You don't want to memorialize unwanted facial or leg hair forever in your wedding photos. But your sensitive skin makes you wary of shaving, waxing, or even tweezing. If you want smooth skin for your wedding day, take a look at what you need to know about laser hair procedures.

Do Start Treatments Well In Advance of Your Wedding Day

Laser hair removal isn't an immediate fix. You could need between two and six total treatments to see the best (and long-lasting) results, according to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). But this doesn't mean you won't notice a difference right away. The AAD notes that many people see a 10 to 25 percent reduction in hair after one laser treatment.

You will need to wait between four and six weeks between treatments. This means you shouldn't expect to have all two, three, four, or more treatments right in a row or over the course of a month. If you want to have the smoothest, most hair-free skin possible on your wedding day, talk to your dermatologist or laser provider about a realistic timeline. The medical professional can help you to select a start day that works for your individual needs.

Don't Plan On Tanning

Do you want a sunny glow for your wedding? If your last laser session is near your big day, you will only have sunless options. While laser treatments don't come with downtime, you should stay out of the sun and avoid UV exposure from tanning beds after the removal procedure.

Do Expect Some After Effects

You don't want to tan after your laser treatment. Does this mean you can schedule an appointment the day before your wedding? While you could choose to have a laser hair removal right before your big event, it isn't advisable. Some people experience discomfort, swelling, or redness immediately after the procedure. If you will treat unwanted facial hair, these after-effects could interfere with your wedding look—and show up in your photos.

Don't Choose Just Any Hair Removal Provider

Laser hair removal is not a typical salon or day spa service. Unlike waxing or threading, this process is a medical treatment and requires a licensed healthcare provider. An esthetician should not remove hair using a laser procedure. Only a board-certified dermatologist or similar cosmetic medical doctor/licensed medical professional should offer this type of treatment.
